The Iphone Craze

Iphone 4s is finally in Malaysia! Weeee!!!

I am currently using the very dinosaur version, the Iphone 1. While it was so cool to have the Iphone 1 a couple of years ago, it is now however an embarrassment to be seen in one! I think others will think that i am some nuts job that still lived in the stone age while seeing me using the Iphone 1!

Why?? Well because KC's staff wanted to buy an Iphone 3 as a surprise gift for his wife about 9 months ago. Being Algeria, of course it will be difficult to get one! To get from other European countries are just way too expensive and there is just no supply in Algeria at all.

So all eyes turned to my Iphone 3, the one which i was using before i was being forced going back to the grandma Iphone 1. So after much "debate" with KC, i gave in and he sold it to his staff. After all i thought that i am in Algeria most of the time, there is really not much chances for me to use my phone to chat, not to mention to bring it out in public to use. Hence it was sold and i am officially back to stone age.

Ok back to Iphone 4. There are always rumors that the Iphone 4s will be out in Malaysia by end of the year but nothing was solid ever. Anyways i set my mind to it of getting one when i get back to KL. The good news is, after much cajoling  towards my brothers, they have agreed to buy me one!

So i quickly registered with Maxis and today at 12am midnight in KL, they were supposed to be at KLCC to register and buy the iphone. They were there since 9pm and started the whole process of registering for a contract, paying and waiting patiently for their turns to get their phones.

All the time while they were there, they gave me real time updates and was teasing me with photos of the phone. I was excited and anxious the whole time! I was thinking and praying to myself that hopefully nothing misfortune will happened that will resulted in me not getting the phone! I can't take that!

Finally, at about 3am KL time, my brother whatsapp-ed me to tell me the good news i was waiting for! I have my phone!!!!

Yeah, new toy to play with when i get back! Hm.... i wonder what questions should i ask Siri?? Perhaps the same questions "I Love You" as per what my lovely brother, Bryan asked????

Counting Down...Again

You how a day can be unbearable when you are anticipating something or someone on a particular day?

That is exactly how i am feeling now!

That is because finally i have set myself a date to travel back to my beloved BOLEH land! It is  DEC 18!!!!!

The moment i knew which date i will be leaving here for my BOLEH land, suddenly, the minutes started to tick off a little slower than before. Perhaps now it takes double the seconds just to pass 1 minute! hahaha i know i am being crazy here but that is exactly how i am feeling.

2 more weeks and i will be able to go back to meet my darling Cofi, not to mention having my favorite pan mee, nasi lemak, prawn mee, ipoh white coffee..... and thinking about them already making me drool!

More tomorrow!

Gone For Good?!

Today is the last day of Yasso-san employment with ALJ in Algeria.

He has been here for the last 2 years and all these while that he was here, he never really get used to Algeria. Yasso-san is an Egyptian with a Canadian passport. He has a lovely wife with 2 2 beautiful kids waiting for him in Toronto. Hence ever now and then, he will return to Toronto to spend some good quality family time.

It is true that i have never spoken to a foreigner who really like Algeria, not even Yasso-san. Come to think of it, if someone with almost similar culture could not take Algeria, what about Asians? One thing though, it is ok to grumble sometimes about something but it is not ok when the grumbling is constant. Yasso-san dislike Algeria so much that he even said that if the world is coming to an end and Algeria is the only safe place in the planet earth, he would rather go back to Egypt or Canada and bet his chances on it! Hahahah that extreme.

For me, i have mentioned earlier, when life throws you a lemon, the best way out is to use it to make lemonade. I enjoyed having Yasso-san around sometimes but not all the time. Because whenever i begin to take in what Algeria is offering me, there i would have Yasso-san complaining how bad life is here; reminding me that life is always better some where else. And when that happens too often, life in Algeria becomes unbearable and then you will sink yourself into depression.

In fact, Algeria might not be the best place on earth to be in but it is not the worst place too. For one, it is so near to EU countries that we are able to travel to over the weekend. Algerians might not be as sophisticated as the "city people", but they are always friendly and helpful. When was the last time you had a stranger greeting you with a bright smile on their face while you are buying something from a groceries shop?

So i am sort of glad that Yasso-san is going back for good. I am sure he misses his family a lot. So today, as a token of appreciation for his help during the time we spent, i am throwing him a farewell dinner. I wanted to cook spagetti but KC insisted on bak kut teh again!

Duh! I am not sure what is it with guys and bak kut teh. I am getting so bored even by the idea. Anyways, to amuse myself, i am throwing in some fry bean with ikan bilis and cuttlefish with chili padi. Hope all turns well!

Total Hiastsu

Today is the 5th of July, which is the national holiday of Algeria, which is also the birthday of KC.

Isnt is nice to have the whole nation celebrating birthday with you by not working? So we could not go out dine or wine because no one is working! What a great way to not do anything on my part and just let his birthday slip off like this! hahahha

Happy birthday darling, many happy returns.

Love.

One Year Wiser

How time flies.

Last year, i was celebrating my birthday in KL right before i packed my stuff getting ready to travel to Algeria.

This year i celebrated my birthday in Algeria.

Looking back the last 365 days, i reasoned i have not done anything really purposeful except playing games in fb and doing pretty much nothing. But i am glad that this means everything were as good as it could and nothing bad had happened.

This year's celebration was nearly to nil. There was no cake, no present, no flowers and not even a birthday song. There was no one but KC here to wish me happy birthday in person. However, i am still a very blessed girl having receiving numerous wishes from friends and family through FB. And because of their generosity, my 365 days ahead will be blessed and i am sure it will be a great journey too.

I guess i have way passed the age when i wished for a specific present. I will be truly happy if same day next year, i could have all my friends and family celebrating and wishing me happy birthday again and that everyone will be at their pink of health. That will be the best present anyone could wish for.

The other surprise was i received a note from a long lost friend. Thank you my dear. You never knew how much that means to me and thank you for getting my year starting at the right note again.

Blessed and love all too.

Celebrations!

Today is a happy day!

Not because i am 1 year older than yesterday, well this is never a reason to be happy to begin with. It's just because one of my buddies is getting married as i am typing this!

Congratulations to Aline and Wei Lun!

It's great to be witnessing how a couple started off from dating, getting to know each other more, falling more in love and eventually tying the knot. Especially when the girl is Aline, the social butterfly whom we thought it will take someone really special to catch her and tie her down. Kudos to Wei Lun for doing that.

Though i could not be in KL to witness their wonderful moment as husband and wife, my heart will definitely blessed them with the most wonderful and most blissful marriage ever.

What a wonderful day and what a lovely and pretty couple they are. Awe.......

Another Year Gone

6 more hours and i will be celebrating my birthday.

Another year has gone by, so fast.

Well I have a feeling that Mr Wong would have forgotten about my birthday and there will definitely be no surprises from him. No present and no flowers. Just hope that at the least he will remembers it.

Sigh...better not put my hopes high up. We are in Algeria afterall......

Anyways, happy birthday to me...

Back to Basic

How do you celebrate any occasions in Algiers when the selection of restaurants is limited? I guess the safest choice is to just visit the biggest hotel available locally and is this case, Sheraton.

We went to Sheraton for lunch as celebrations of our first year being Mr and Mrs Wong. Sheraton Algiers is ranked as a 4 stars hotel but one should not expect any really magnificent or fancy decorations. Didnt manage to snap any photo of the hotel because there is nothing much interesting to snap anyway.

So here are just some very plain photos i took just to commemorate this day and besides, i was bored when waiting for the food to come. Had some really normal and plain dishes with a price that is not justifiable - 5,100 dinars or approximately RM250.

Since he cant find flowers for me, i take this as the flower lo..

Raw salmon as appetizer

KC's ordering - Roasted Lamb

Mine - Plain grilled fish

Of course like i mentioned earlier, every occasion has to end with a photo snap of all the attendance, which in this case, KC and i. On the way back when i examined the photo, i wanted to punch that guy at the back. Look at him, all smiley and looking right into the camera as if he was invited to take the photo with us. What is his problem anyway?? Cant he just mind his own business? Sheesh!!!

p/s: saw these lovely cherries on our way back. Cant stop but to snap a picture of them. Love the vibrant color!

365 Days... Almost

When i woke up this morning, i got myself a text message from KC.

"This is gonna be fun. I'm the first to remember today its 1 year you're my legal wife. Happy first year anniversary. Muaks."

Isn't he sweet? I am truly happy that he remembers this very special date but i guessed he some how got the actual date wrong. It's actually not our anniversary for another 5 days.

Well i am still touched because of the efforts he put in.

Happy 1st year anniversary my dear. Thanks for making me happier each day.

Truly Blessed

Just gone through one of the biggest milestone of my life and am so glad that everything went well. All thanks to my bunch of buddies.

Special thanks to Marcia, Jess, Hwee Ching, Peng, Michelle, Julie who came all the way from Korea,Bee Bee, Cheang, Aline, Janice and Grace even though she had fallen sick, she was still all worried about me.

Also am glad that I was surrounded by best wishes from my relatives and cousins.

And Cofi behaved very well on that day too.

Not to mentioned my parents for their warm wishes and loves, and also both my brothers for being there for me and helping me with everything they could.

Oh ya and special thanks to Cacing and Wei Hsiang too for being bullied by the scary boys. Heard Cacing ate a mouth full of bitters. Marcia, you too, thanks for all and sorry that you were bullied too.

Of course also to the scary boys who made the day very cheerful and "helping" KC on that day. I am sure he needed it. :)

Thanks all. I'm truly blessed.

Starting The New Year With A "Hah-Choo"!

How was the new year's eve celebrations for you folks?

As for me, i celebrated mine with Cofi by sleeping through the night with a heavy head, running nose and a really bad sore throat.

Though i am sick, i am somehow grateful that i am only sick now when i am back to Malaysia and not during my holidays in Vancouver or even London. It will be dreadful if that is the case. I would not be able to go shopping during Boxing day and the long haul flight back to Malaysia will be even worst!

As for now, am busy sorting out the pictures that i took during my trip as well as organizing the "prizes" which i got from the cheap shopping during Boxing day. Before i blog on my trip, here are some pictures to share for now.

Have a great 2010 year peeps!

Happy Birthday!

Today's is the big day for my dearest dad. Wishing him a wonderful birthday and many happy returns! Too bad i am now in Algeria and could not celebrate his birthday with him but i am sure there will be more chances to come. Normally we the kids will not buy him any present but instead will insist to have a good dinner with him that we can afford. It has been the tradition of the family since young. I guess he has everything that he needed.

As for me, this year's birthday was a special one. I was given a life term commitment and the chance to attain one of my goals. I was given the chance to retire (haha too early isnt it?) and to do nothing at home. So here i am in Oran, doing basically nothing everyday. I cant express how touched i was when i was given this gift and how lucky i think i am for having the best partner i could ever dreamt of. What else is there to ask for when he is already giving me his best? I am really a blessed soul. My dear friend has also given me a special birthday gift this year, comics! Yes i think i am too old to be still a comic addict but i am! He knew that and had accompanied me to buy some really good ones and given me as present. Thank you my dear. Other than that, everything went smoothly that day which for me, is the best way to celebrate birthday. Birthday is anyway a date that reminds us on the ever increasing number of our age and nothing more. For me, birthday is celebrated the best when everything is as per normal and having a great dinner with my love ones. As always, simplicity is the best.

Ramadan

The Ramadan started 2 days ago globally and we were given the below in the evening when Jawad buka puasa, made fresh by his mother. How lovely.

I cant express enough my appreciations for their cares and thoughtfulness.

Though it is still summer here, since Ramadan, Eye-turk has become a deserted town where there are so few people on the streets that you can hear birds chirping whole day long. Bread however, has became a popular commodity that i cant still cant get any since Ramadan started. The first day of Ramadan i even saw a queue in the pastry shop waiting for fresh bread.

Jawad told us that most of the time Ramadan falls during the winter but this year it has fallen on a summer and that has made fasting more difficult for them. Most of them are not used to it and hence the quietness in the first day. He also said that most of them choose to sleep during the day to beat hunger and thirstiness but i guess our friends in Malaysia are used to the heaty weather. The first day of Ramadan, Suhaib, his younger brother is practicing fasting for the first time. When he was asked to wake up to eat in the morning, he chose to continue to sleep. When he woke up later he was given to PS2 to play with so that he will be distracted from the hunger. However, around noon, Jawad said that Sohaib rolled himself on the floor and using a dying tone asking for food. He said "Mum, please any food, i think i am dying." Of course the mum didnt give him anything. I hope he will get used to it. 3 days down and 27 days more to go.

To all our Muslim friends, have a good Ramadan.
