Expensable Time

Finally, i was told that i will be vising the town of Oran this afternoon. I was so excited!

The driver was supposed to come to the house at 1130 this afternoon. Of course, being in this part of the world, where time is a expensable commodity, he was late for an hour. Imagine what we could have done in Malaysia with that precious time. Anyway i was happy that at least i was starting my journey to the town.

It took a long 40 minutes drive from the hill to Oran but i was not yet in the town, in fact i was sent to Toyota Algeria where i was told that we will be using another car and together with some local colleagues to the town. So i waited, and waited, and waited.

By the time i walked out from the branch heading to the town, 2 hours were already gone. Somehow a simple task of getting into another car seems like a heavy one here. It is either the car has been driven to someones house, or it was on the way to the bank, or it was on the way back. Basically the car was everywhere besides coming back to the branch. At last when the car reached the branch, 90 minutes later, it is the turn to look out for the missing colleagues. One call retrieved him in the office, another call again 10 minutes later he was outside and the drama continues.

By the time i managed to get into the car heading to the town, it was already 230pm. When the excitement wore off (and that was before even i get into the car), all that was left in me was just tiredness and boredom.

But looking at the bright side, i managed to get a taste of one of the local dish - the grilled chicken, which i was told is stuffed with rice. No photos taken because it just looked like normal grilled chicken. Yep the crispy skin tasted great but when it comes to the meat, well they are just normal tasteless chicken meat. And one more thing, i think the chef forgot to stuff in the rice!
