Jetting Off To Lyon

The night before i jet off to Lyon, i couldnt sleep because i slept too much the night before. So by the time the alarm rang at 530am, i was already half way preparing myself to go. It is now the beginning of Autumn in Oran and the morning was chilly and by the time i walked myself into the airport, i was shivering in cold since i was just in a cardigan. By the time we sat in the terminal waiting for our flight, it was already 7 in the morning. Out of boredom i took out my camera to snap a few pics and these are some interesting ones. One showing the first class lounge which is just a few seats away from the normal area, and another one showing how passengers were bused across the terminal and had to get down again to identify their bags before they could go on to the plane. So what is the difference with first class and economy class? So the first class passengers will also have to go through all the hassles as economy passengers? That doesnt make sense at all!

Our flight took off an hour later and i was restless because i cant wait to go back to the modernized world again! 2 hours later and we reached Lyon!

We checked into Lyon Hilton which was at the Convention Centre. After putting down our bags, we set off our first quest to look for McDonald's because i was craving for it even before i came. So we went to the Concierge and ask for direction and decided to take the local bus in order to blend ourselves with the local. Well the truth is that everything is very expensive here in France. The trip from Lyon airport to the hotel had already cost us 75 USD, and the bus ticket only cost us 2USD per pax!
The view of the convention centre from the hotel

A very happy me in Lyon!

A very friendly hotel staff telling us where to go and where to have local dinner

The cost of the ticket for a single trip is just 2 USD.

In about 10 minutes, we arrived at the city heart of Lyon and we saw McDonald's! Yeppy! I was very excited as if i was a kid seeing Mcdonald's for the first time in my life. I ordered the McBacon and it was yummy and very satisfying! Even McDonald's is expensive to eat if we convert back to Ringgit. It cost us 20 USD for 2 sets. That means about Rm70! OMG after this meal we decided not to convert to Ringgit again or we will feel so guilty to eat anything.

Look McDonald's! The one with the red canopy!

After that we decided to go to the Lyon Tourism Centre which was across the street and check on what we could do since we decided to do this trip in a free and easy manner. The staff were all very professional and very helpful. There are a lot of tourists from all over the world all because Lyon is one of the protected heritage city by Unesco. There are people from Malaysia (us or should i say from Algeria?), Japanese, Hong Kong, Spain, Italy, China others and they were all either queing up to ask for information, or sitting at one corner planning their trip. At the end, we settled with buying the one day pass that allows us to use the local transport and visiting to museums and local attractions free. All with the cost of 30 USD per pax. Since we got to start using the pass the next day, it it worth the money because there are so many museums around in Lyon. Besides that we could also join the local city tour that will introduce us to the history of Lyon and also taking the cruise for free. If we were to do all these separately we will need to pay about 50 USD extra. So we bought the card and then decided to just take a walk at the city center and just to have a relaxing day before we start a hectic one tomorrow.

KC : Oh no! Walking in the city means shopping!
Me : Of course dear! Now prepare your credit card!
