Prophecy

I watched a rather alarming documentary titled "Nostradamus" few days ago. It is on how Nostradamus the so far most popular and most accurate prophet has predicted that after 72 hundred thousand, at the year 2012, December the 12th, our beloved mother earth will come to an end when the sun is aligned in a straight line with the milky way. The documentary went further to prove that even ancient Egyptian and the Maya civilizations, which both were experts in astronomy, also predicted this event and had tried to warn human by craving symbols on the walls and tablets. Besides that even Christianity also predicted dooms day by writing in codes in the bible and churches were built in the early days with symbolic sculptures and symbols to warn us about this catastrophe. The prophecy said that the world will be faced with catastrophes that we have never seen or heard before, starting from 5 or 3 years before dooms day. There will be never ending strikes of earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes and any other kind of natural disasters and the scale of each disaster will be larger and more violent than the previous one. There will also be unheard and new diseases that will kill masses, the human race will be in war and so on. There will be radical and unexplained changes in the weather, there will be hunger, there will be floods, droughts and then the extinction of the human race. And if this happens, it will be the 5th time for the earth since the cosmic is like a circle that will go back to the original point, which is the aquarius. Of course just like any other documentary, Nostradamus said that the future lies in the our hand and hence the last drawing was him holding an opened book with blank pages. Experts said that this means, we human got to choose whether we will be extinct, hence the blank pages, or that we turned ourselves into new leaves and hence the new beginning of our future. And that marks the end of the documentary.

What alarms me so much is not the prediction or how close we are to 2012, but how foolish us humans were and still are. There should be no fear in dying because that is just the law of nature. How could you be afraid when death just strikes upon you when you are just doing your routines, like sipping a cup of coffee in the morning? What is frightful is how stupid and foolish we are. Look at the world around you. Everyday scenes of wars, hungers, natural catastrophes are shown on tv. How many of us really cares? How many of us really cares if there will no longer be any icebergs in the next ten or twenty years? Who cares if innocent people are dying or hunger or war? Who cares how much pain we have brought upon others and who cares how much damages we have done?

Who cares if the kids in Iraq are hurt or injured? But what bad had they done to deserve this?

Who cares if other part of the world is in war as long as we have our warm and sweet bed each night?

Who cares if there is a tsunami again as long as we still got water to bath and path to walk on?

Who cares if the ice-burgs are melting and the temperature rising as long as we have our air-conditioned room?

Who cares if there are hungry kids out there as long as we have fast food to eat?

What we care about is how much money we earned, how big our houses and cars are, how we are better off than our friends, how many branded items we have, how important our prides are and the list goes on. Human race is the cleverest and stupidest race ever! Didnt we already knew long time ago that whatever is happening now is all from our past actions? And didnt we knew that we could and should be changing our lifestyle now in order to resolve all the social problems we are facing? We always said that history is important because we can learn from them and then change. But what we are doing is only acknowledging that histories happened but do nothing. We just sit on them. We are our own destroyer. If dooms day really comes, we have no one to blame but ourselves. Of course i am no saint and i have as many sins as any other human, but if each of us can do our part in saving the world, maybe we can change how the world will be, regardless if we are doing to avoid dooms day. If each of us use less plastic bag, save more water and electricity, be gentler and kinder to the environment, will that not make mother earth a better place? We are all selfish and i am sure doing good deeds for mother earth is never the top priority in our list. If so, lets do the good deeds for our kids then, just like how our parents will do anything for us. If only we learned that life is not about what kind of race we are, if only we learned that it does not matters who is the prime minister of the country, that oil fields are less important than our lives and stop wars around the world, if we can just more more caring, more patient, tolerating, more loving... if only... Because if dooms day comes, all these are just nothing but bubbles.

Life is after all, nothing but a dream. Wake up people!
