The Western Chef

Since my life here in Oran is getting bored, i decided to venture myself into western cooking and be a Western Chef wanna-be for a day. I have no idea how to cook a decent beef meal. All i have is only vague pictures in my mind of how a western meal should look like, from all the dining experiences i have all these years. So i decided to just use whatever sauces i have for marinating and seasoning of the meal. And all i have were are these:

After marinating the beef with Lea and Perry sauce, a little salt and a lot of hearbs, i let the meat settle for a couple of hours.

Sliced carrot to be steamed later with a little salt to season.

Sliced potatoes to be fried later.

A canned of mushrooms to be partly steamed together with the carrots, and the other half to be fried and add with sauces.

So after getting all the ingredients ready, i started cooking by 530 pm. Simultaneously i did the following alone! That was really a challenge!
Frying the beef in a pan....while watching the fire to make sure that i will not overcooked the meat..

Frying the potatoes in another pan and also steaming the vegetables in another pan...

And finally preparing the sauce by frying the mushrooms, then add some salt, lea and perry, herbs and corn flour to thicken the water..

And after 30 minutes of constant challenge and sweat, viola! The final product!

Placement of the food trying to imitate those from the restaurant. Haha

A very happy KC enjoying his meal.

The verdict? It was good for a first time trial! Even me, a non beef lover finished my portion. And because of this success, i am asked to cook grilled mutton tonight. We will see how it goes!
